Over a period of time the plastic sacks will disintegrate. How then will the mud be held together?

  3. Sourabh says:

The bags are only temporary formwork. The mud will have hardened long before they disintegrate.

thnks. Can a bathroom be made using the same tech? will the mud not get humid due to the vapour?

  5. Sourabh says:

Sure.. a bathroom can easily be built too.
The humidity has no effect whatsoever on the strength of the walls.

Can a similar structure be seen which was built say about 10 yrs ago? I have watched nader kkhalilis clip and it seems very interesting.I remember seeing similar structures in Auroville a few years ago but am not sure if they were built of mud bags.Is it worth taking a risk of making such a structure (risk may not be the right word)
instead of the conventional cement brick structure .As you said it would cost around Rs700.00 max per sq ft, one would have to spend 335! lacs

Here’s a short video about an earthbag house that’s been lived in for five years.

You cover the bags with a plaster: earthen, papercrete, whatever, and the bags will NEVER disintegrate.
